What is Organic Coffee?
Organic coffee has been grown on chemical and pesticide free plantations. Typically, many
plantations which are organic also obtain shade certification.
What is Fair Trade Coffee All About?
Fair Trades chief concern has been to ensure that the vast majority of the world's
coffee farmers (who are small holders) get a fair price for their harvests in order
to achieve a decent living wage. Fair Trade guarantees to poor farmers organized in
cooperatives around the world: a living wage regardless of the volatile market.
Fair Trade Certified coffee is the first product being introduced in the United
States with an independently monitored system to ensure that it was produced under fair labor conditions.
What is a shade grown coffee?
Shade grown coffee is from plantations that grow coffee amongst the natural
forest of the land. Rather than clear cutting for planting, the forest
canopy is left intact providing a natural habitat for many birds and other animals.
